About the film
The Road to Fondwa is a 37-minute documentary about a rural community in the Haitian mountains, and about a country usually seen through a narrow lens.
Filmed in 2006 with rare access across Fondwa and far beyond it, the film follows people taking their future into their own hands — organizing their community and sustaining the University of Fondwa, the country's first rural university.
Twenty years after the filming, this site is the film's permanent home: a place to watch it, alongside an archive drawn from the roughly forty-five hours of footage shot across Haiti in 2006.
